Tapley Trudell
Writer | Trainer | Instructional Designer

You have a great business. You love what you do. You don’t love trying to train new employees. You suspect if you did love it, you’d spend less of your precious time and energy putting out fires and answering the same questions over and over again. You just wish you could wave a magic wand over your new hires and voilà, brilliant, fully-trained employees who deliver great results and make stellar decisions.
If only there was someone who could help. Someone who could organize information like a librarian, make it understandable using the best instructional design methods, and make it engaging like a born performer. In short, someone who could help you train high performing employees with a minimum of headaches and hassle.
Hi, I’m the solution. It’s me.
I’m Tapley Trudell, writer, trainer, instructional designer, former librarian, occasional actor and dancer, and the solution to your training headaches.
As a former librarian with an MLS from Connecticut State University and over a decade of experience at the San Antonio Public Library, I’ve mastered the art of organizing information and guiding people to exactly what they need. As a senior technical writer and trainer at TomTom, I honed my ability to collect, organize, and distill complex information into its essential elements. I’ve created comprehensive onboarding programs, delivered virtual training to students across six continents, and developed eLearning modules that make even the most complex concepts accessible.
I firmly believe three things:
- Training is communication, and communication is a two-way street.
- You cannot clearly communicate information that you yourself are not clear on.
- Employee experience = customer experience.
My approach starts with listening. I’m an exceptional sounding board – you can info-dump your brain to me, and I’ll reflect back clarity in the form of salient points and underlying messages. I ask questions that get you thinking about your business, products, and goals in new and valuable ways.
From there, we will take that brain dump and turn it into clear expectations for your employees, and match those expectations to the best training methods to get the results you want. Spoiler alert: these methods will include conversation with your staff, not just instructions to your staff.
High performing employees are invested in the values and goals of the business they work for, and not just on the level of “I want to keep my job.” My framework will help you generate and nurture that investment. It will also help you create a positive employee experience that will translate to a positive customer experience, and a positive customer experience leads to the impact and revenue that you are hoping to create.
Through our collaboration, you’ll reclaim your time and watch your team operate with new clarity and confidence. You’ll finally be able to focus on strategic priorities while your training materials work as hard as you do.
Ready to transform your training and create more ease and joy in your workplace? Let’s have a conversation.
